2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS on a lake bed
The EQS has only just arrived at dealerships across the U.S., but it’s already upending the market for electric vehicles. It shouldn’t be hard to see why. After all, the EQS is the first Mercedes-Benz EQ vehicle, and it manages to deliver utterly unique technology features, stunning real-world range, and a design that innovates in all the areas that matter most!

Although every interested driver should test drive the new EQS on the roads of Arcadia or Alhambra, a close look at the 2022 EQS reviews can give you an excellent sense of what to expect from your time behind the wheel.

EQS Reviews: Car & Driver

According to the experts at Car & Driver, the new EQS is “one of the fanciest EVs ever”. We don’t see how anyone could disagree. Here are the highlights from their most recent EQS review:

  • “Its curvaceous body effortlessly slips through the air for maximum efficiency, and its palatial cabin boasts luxurious appointments and state-of-the-art features for the all-important wow factor.”
  • “Inside, the EQS is lined with beautiful, high-quality materials and outfitted with countless luxury amenities.”
  • “ Thanks to a completely flat floor as well as a lengthy 126.4-inch wheelbase, the EQS has a spacious interior. Cargo space is also especially generous, thanks to its large hatchback.”

EQS Reviews: Edmunds

Whether discussing the performance of the EQS or its myriad interior features, the editors at Edmunds dished out plenty of praise.

  • The brand “remains a leader with its MBUX infotainment system. The voice-controlled virtual assistant is particularly helpful for adjusting controls or bringing up information without having to take your eyes off the road. The Burmester audio system sounds great, and the integrated navigation system is useful for routing to nearby charging stations.”
  • “The [EPA-estimated range] is great by itself, and we found the EQS can go even farther. We drove the EQS 450+ 422 miles on a single max battery charge in our real-world range test. It was also more efficient than the EPA’s estimate, using only 29.5 kWh/100 miles. For comparison, a 2022 Audi e-tron GT we tested went only 273 miles on a full charge and used 41 kWh/100 miles.”

EQS Reviews: Kelley Blue Book

The reviewers at Kelley Blue Book were likewise impressed by all of the innovations that set the EQS apart from other EVs on the market today. Here’s what stood out when they had a chance to get behind the wheel:

  • Mercedes-Benz EQ “makes its own batteries, with reduced cobalt and high energy density, in Germany. Further improving range is an exceptionally sleek EQS body with a smooth bottom. [It also has a] drag coefficient of only 0.20, the lowest of any production car.”
  • “Another reason the EQS range is so astounding is that through its highly advanced controllers, various electrical systems can be switched off automatically to extend range.”
