What is Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX)?
Mercedes-Benz is proud to announce the all-new MBUX, or Mercedes-Benz User Experience. This innovative system includes a combination of touchscreen, touchpad, and touch-control button technology that will allow drivers to interact with vehicle systems intuitively, in a distraction-free environment. Currently, this technology is available on the new Mercedes-Benz A-Class, new Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, 2020 CLA, 2020 GLB, 2020 EQC, and 2020 GLE but is slated to become available on most future models. Learn more about how it works below!
Three Ways to Input Information
The user experience begins with a free-standing widescreen cockpit interface that operates much like a tablet computer or smartphone. This touchscreen allows drivers to view their Bluetooth®* phone connection, radio, and navigation system, while also displaying pertinent information, such as destination arrival time, caller, etc Beyond the system’s main home screen is the base screen. Here, drivers will find controls for the main applications on the home screen, as well as access to the submenu, where seldom used programs and applications reside.
Intuitive Controls
Drivers can use traditional touchscreen controls to operate these programs while the vehicle is parked and even input information using the handwriting recognition, making adding new addresses quick and easy. For greater convenience, drivers can take advantage of MBUX’s LINGUATRONIC natural speech recognition to get the information they need without taking their attention from the road. Simply use the button on the steering wheel or the audio command “Hey Mercedes-Benz” to activate the intelligent language assistance and speak commands. The system will listen and respond, learning as it interacts with the speaker to recognize buzzwords and changes in language.
Customizable Settings
In addition to customizing the way the MBUX receives information, the driver can adjust the way they see the screen by moving, shrinking, and enlarging content as needed, just as they would with their favorite smart device. The haptic feedback recognizes manual input and allows drivers to adjust content to their liking. Drivers can even set the navigation screen to take over the gauge cluster, putting maps front and center to provide a clear, easy-to-see view of road information and turn-by-turn directions.
